Medium Duty Towing & Box Truck Recovery in St. Louis
Between a light-duty flatbed and a full heavy wrecker there is a real gap — the rental box truck that hit a low overpass, the sprinter van dead on a loading dock, the RV broken down at a rest stop, the shuttle bus that will not start at the hotel. Medium calls need medium equipment. Live dispatch. Our trucks. One number.

The job, in specifics
What actually shows up on a St. Louis medium-duty call
Medium duty is where a lot of tow companies get in trouble. A Class-5 rollback will haul it — until the box catches the ramp, or the wheelbase is too long, or the GVW puts you on the wrong side of your rating. The right call is the one where the truck fits the unit before it rolls.
The scoping questions we ask on the call are what decide whether we send a rollback, a medium wrecker, or split it into two units. Class, GVW, height, wheelbase, load status, and where it needs to end up.
- Box trucks & rental fleet. U-Haul, Penske, Budget and Ryder rentals — dead battery, no-start, air-brake, mechanical, or accident. Height and wheelbase matter more than weight on these.
- Sprinter & cargo vans. Mercedes and Ford Transits, cargo and passenger sprinters, mobile-shop vans — loaded, half-loaded, or with racked equipment inside.
- Class-A motorhomes & RVs. Diesel pushers, gas Class-A, Class-C rigs, fifth-wheels and toy haulers stuck at rest stops, campgrounds, or on the interstate.
- Shuttle buses & small transit. Hotel shuttles, church buses, cutaway buses and event coaches — dispatched with air-brake-aware equipment and low-clearance care.
- Dually pickups & landscape rigs. F-350, F-450, 3500-series duallies with dovetail trailers or loaded landscape equipment — the tow that a flatbed cannot legally take.
- Ambulances & specialty vehicles. Emergency units, food trucks, mobile-clinic vans and modified chassis — moved with the right straps and tie-down plan.

What we actually do on a medium dispatch
Box & cube truck tow
16-, 20- and 26-foot rental and commercial box trucks moved on rollbacks or medium wreckers — the choice depends on wheelbase and GVW, not just weight.
Sprinter & cargo van tow
Mercedes and Ford Transit vans loaded or empty, mobile-shop rigs with racked equipment, refrigerated cargo units — the tow scoped so the contents stay put.
RV & motorhome recovery
Class A, B, and C rigs stuck at campgrounds, rest stops, or on the shoulder. Air-brake-aware handling, low-clearance route planning, driver-and-passenger coordination.
Shuttle & small bus tow
Hotel shuttles, cutaway buses, church buses and event coaches — air-brake caging and passenger evacuation coordination when needed.
Dually & landscape rig tow
One-ton duallies with loaded trailers, landscape rigs, contractor pickups with racked equipment — moved without adding damage to the deck or the load.
Secure storage on release
Post-recovery storage at our 35-acre yard in St. Charles — accessible for owners, adjusters, and body-shop pickup with proper release documentation.

What we roll on a medium call
Medium is a range, not one truck. We send the unit that actually fits the job — a 21-foot rollback for one call, a medium wrecker with wheel-lift for the next, a flatbed with dollies for the third.
21-ft rollback
Extended-bed rollback for Class 4-5 units, sprinter vans, box trucks and low-clearance vehicles that will fit on the deck.
Medium-duty wrecker
Wheel-lift medium wrecker for Class 5-6 recovery — larger box trucks, motorhomes, dually pickups, shuttle buses.
Flatbed & dolly rig
Damage-free hauling with tow dollies for AWD units, no-neutral vans, or units with axle damage.
Support & rigging
Straps, chains, wheel skates, load bars and second-unit coordination on the same dispatch.
What the call sounds like
Four questions, then a truck rolls
-
1
What is the unit?
Make, model, class. Loaded or empty. If it is a rental, tell us — those have their own rules.
-
2
Where exactly is it?
Full address or interstate + mile marker. Which shoulder. Whether you are blocking a lane or a dock.
-
3
What is wrong?
No-start, dead battery, accident, mechanical, out of fuel, stuck. Whether the driver is safe and can wait.
-
4
Firm quote, then ETA.
Once we know the scope, we quote it. If the number works, we dispatch the right truck. If it does not, no hard sell, no pressure.

Straight answers
Medium duty towing — St. Louis FAQ
Do you tow rental box trucks — U-Haul, Penske, Budget?
Yes. Rental fleet tows have their own paperwork rules — we know how to work with each brand. Have the rental contract or agreement number ready when you call.
Can you tow a motorhome or RV?
Yes. Class A, B and C rigs — gas or diesel. Air-brake-aware equipment, low-clearance route planning. If it is over 30 feet or has hydraulic suspension, tell us on the call so we send the right rig.
What is the difference between medium and light-duty towing?
Light-duty is a rollback flatbed handling cars, pickups, small vans — usually under 10,000 lb GVW. Medium is Class 4-6 — box trucks, larger vans, motorhomes, dually pickups, shuttles — up to about 26,000 lb GVW. We do both, and dispatch matches the truck to the unit.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. USDOT 4243711, licensed and insured for commercial recovery. Certificates of insurance available on request for fleet and insurer accounts.
How much does a medium tow cost?
Medium pricing depends on the class of unit, distance, and scene conditions. Call (855) 498-0515 for a firm quote before we roll. We quote on the phone, not on the website.
Do you work with motor clubs and insurers?
Yes. Agero, Swoop, Roadside Protect, USAA, State Farm and other motor-club and insurer overflow work. Tell the dispatcher who dispatched you on the call and we route accordingly.
Can you tow a loaded box truck?
Usually yes. Depends on the load, damage, and where it is. Some jobs move as-is, some need the load re-blocked before it moves. The dispatcher will scope that with you.
Do you store the vehicle after recovery?
Yes — at our 35-acre secured yard in St. Charles. Storage, release paperwork, and adjuster access all handled through dispatch.
Not stranded, but need dispatch soon?
Send us the details
Non-emergency medium dispatch requests — RV moves, adjuster tows, dealer & body-shop transports, fleet events. If the unit is on the shoulder or blocking a dock, please call the number instead.
